My thoughts are we shall have to wait and see. Everything
will be
happening very quickly and it will feel like a whirl. I'll
ring her
tomorrow morning and see how things are going. I know the
family will
rally round immediately financially, but longer term when
life
settles into hard every day times I'm sure that a gift to
do
something would be nice.
If people want me to give something tangible when I visit
let me
know. At present I can't think what.

Dear Ones
Having, only 9 months ago, gone through the sudden death of
our son, I
know that the first 7-10 days after the death you are in
shock and
completely numb, almost like being in the eye of a hurricane
swirling
around you.....your world is out of control. You are being
hugged and
consoled by so many people, many you don't even know, they
almost weigh
you down with "their" grief. Your house is
filled with family,
neighbors, co-workers and friends, flowers, plants and an
obscene amount
of food....the phone rings and rings and rings...then
there's more
flowers and more food. It's all so surreal.
For right now, I recommend cards, lots of them - they will
be treasures
for her to read now and again later. Keep the e-mails going,
she can
read them at her own pace and maybe even save them, I did.
Sometimes
when I'm feeling really sad I read them and have a good
cry. You were
all so great!
Most important, after 2 weeks, when all the family and
friends have gone
home and the enormity of the loss begins to register,
she'll really need
our support. Flowers then just might mean more.
Hope this is received the way it was intended.....to help
our dear,
sweet Rea.
