Just had a long chat with Kathleen, she's been pretty
miserable the past while. She's having problems with a
blood
factor called INR which just keeps going up, and which is
the reason she's been having bleeding problems. She hit her
head getting out of her Jeep, and has been having odd
problems since: no sense of smell, sounds seem amplified,
vision seems odd. So they say she may have experienced a
small "bleed" in her brain, and she's going in
for a brain
scan (MRI?) to check that out.
Her good news is that the medical system is paying to send
her & her records to either the Mayo Clinic or Johns
Hopkins
for a thorough going-over by top specialists. They're even
paying for someone to escort her there and back. Her local
doctors have finally concluded they don't have the
expertise
she needs. She is expecting that the American docs will be
able to do the surgery she was hoping for, removing the
ovaries, the mesh from her reconstruction, and anything else
that needs removing; and to figure out the best treatment
plan for her. No word on when this will be.
One scary note: she received a letter from the guy in the
federal pen in Minnesota, whom she helped to turn in,
threatening both her and her children. He's in for a number
of years yet, but still it's scary. The only place she can
think of where he might have gotten her address is this
list; I posted it a couple of times when Kathleen was asking
for cards and letters. So maybe it's never a good idea to
post an address to the list.
