Dear Marcy-

Living with chronic pain is very difficult and people who
have never
experienced it don't realize how much it transforms
someone's life. It's
damn scary, especially when you're used to being active and
independent. You are doing such an amazing job of coping with
your pain
that most people don't realize how difficult this is for
you.

Having just got out of the hospital for abdominal surgery, I
can't
believe how much I'm doing already (back at work, chasing
after my 3
year old dd, grocery shopping, etc) in less than 2 weeks. At
times I'm
very tired and scared that I'm doing too much too soon, but
the reality
is that I've got to do these few things at a minimum. Life
doesn't stop
because I'm in pain or exhausted. As much as they care,
friends and
family get burned out after awhile, and just want to hear
that I'm fine.
So, yes, we get shoved out of the nest too early (again!)
and struggle
to find our new "normal".

That said, have you considered trying some alternative
therapies (with
your docs approval, of course), such as accupuncture, water
therapy or
gentle yoga?

Sending you comfort and love,

Karen
