Thanks, Amanda... but I guess I want to know more. Why? Why do
this? Why doesn't the website owner just give the funds to programs that
provide uninsured/under insured women mammograms? Why make us do the
monkey thing?

It
is legit. Some people go to the site and click as soon as they long on every

Hi, Holly,
Yes, this site
is “legitimate,221; but as you say, there is more to know. It is
run by a for-profit company that draws you to its web site, the primary sales
tool of the company, by asking you to click once per day to cause them to
donate money for free mammograms. That’;s why they don’t just
give the money for the mammograms … it wouldnR17;t generate any
customers for them. Those who responded that they do click daily are
doing a good thing, so long as they have the willpower not to buy stuff they
don8217;t want or need, or at a price that is more than they could easily
find it for elsewhere.
I, too, get
this email very frequently, claiming that the site is “having trouble
getting enoughR21; clicks to fund the mammograms. No! They are
having trouble getting enough visitors (read “shoppers”;) to their “store.”
Sometimes I take the time to write whoever sent me the email an explanation
like this one, and if I go to the web site to get details to make my response
more credible, I DO click on the free mammogram button while I’m there.
It can’t hurt, but I don’t obsess about doing it. And I
certainly don’t buy from the site’;s sponsor. Their prices are
pretty high, and the percentage of sales they donate to mammograms or breast
cancer in general is very low. I usually tell people if they want to
donate to a breast cancer cause, I know a much better way to do so!
Cheers!
