Dear friends,
Sadly, I post the following from the "Friends of
Janet":
---------------------------
Janet Graham died peacefully at 12:05 a.m. Thursday. Richard
and Susan
were with her; they immediately went to get Betty Graham and
phoned me
from Betty's house. I got to Bayview before Richard and
Susan and Betty
did. We joined hands around Janet's bed and committed her
to God's care
in heaven.
Betty is a "Steel Magnolia"-- a term that
transcends any geographical
designation! In view of the fact that Janet apparently had
never made
any prior arrangements, the family decided to let Craig's
handle them.
Sally Robb (hospice nurse) with her sister Judy, both
members of the Mem
Pres family, came and were so very helpful. We waited until
the Craig's
mortician arrived, and then all of us went home.
Even as the family (Janet's family and the church family)
grieves the
loss of a remarkable and talented and dedicated Christian
musical
leader and organist, Janet's family is relieved and
thankful and at
peace, knowing that she is now beyond suffering and pain and
in God's
loving care.
The family has chosen to have Janet's body cremated and her
ashes
placed in the MemPres columbarium. Janet's sister Joni, in
Miami, is
recovering from having a cardiac stint inserted. The family
has chosen
to delay the memorial servic e until Joni and the family can
come to
St. Augustine, and the church, for a joyful service--the
kind that
would please Janet. They are also delaying the service,
because many of
Janet's musician friends are tied up with Holy Week duties.
I suggested
that perhaps it might be on Monday or Tuesday after
Easter--maybe later
in the afternoon, so that people with jobs and careers might
conveniently attend.
Please keep Janet's immediate family, and our church
family, including
the church staff, in your prayers.
---------------------------
You know, we Jews refer to those who have gone before as
being "of
blessed memory," or "OBM." Today, it is I
who feels blessed to have had
Janet in my life for even a short time.
Love, Naomi B
