Web Developer
This position will support RAND's external web capabilities
and
computing infrastructure. Works with web team to add new web
capabilities and enhance existing systems. Maintains web
servers, web
applications, and various web scripts. Participates on
project teams
to expand web infrastructure and revamp existing
capabilities.
Educational requirements: BS/BA
Specific technical skills required:
* 5 years' experience in Computing Industry.
* 3 years' web application development experience with
last 2
years focusing on web application design and development in
the Linux/
Apache/MySQL/Perl-PHP environment.
* Firsthand understanding of mainstream web
technologies and
systems:
o Demonstrable experience developing a broad
range of
applications, application interfaces and simple forms using
the
following languages and scripts: Perl, PHP, and related
scripting
languages.
o Experience in both server-side and client-side
application development.
o Proven experience linking Web applications to
various
backend databases including MySQL and MS SQLServer.
o Good understanding of complete software life
cycle and
software development practices.
Type of experience required:
* Strong problem solving skills.
* Able to work independently to solve problems and
develop
solutions when given non-standard requirements.
* Intuition, agility and creativity.
* Good communication and organizational skills.
* Able to work comfortably with technical staff as well
as
business and non-technical individuals.
* Results driven, self-motivated, and able to meet
tight
deadlines while working under pressure.
* Experience with Bricolage Web Content Management
system is a
plus.
