| Using Xinha in Bricolage |

|

Hi all
I have recently began upgrading the version Of Bricolage and
during
this process
I have decided to also make use of the Xinha WYSWYG for the
HTML editing
Having installed this and copied it to the right directories
and
specified in the API Bric::Admin
I have then as instructed edited the .conf file so that
USE_WYSIWYG is
set to yes, then
for the WYSIWYG_EDITOR what value needs to go here?
Also after having done that is there anything else I need to
do in
Bricolage to 'get to see' the
Xinha editor for HTML editing??
Thanks all

Yeah
I'm using Firefox so not come across those problems yet but
feel more
that
I haven't reached that stage yet?
Didnt know what to put as the value next to
WYSIWYG_EDITOR??

Does your javascript console show errors?
> Didnt know what to put as the value next to
WYSIWYG_EDITOR??
1. from my bricolage.conf:
------------------------------------------------------------
----------
# ...
ENABLE_WYSIWYG = Yes
WYSIWYG_EDITOR = Xinha
# next is all on one line
XINHA_TOOLBAR = [["formatblock",
"bold","italic","underline",&q
uot;separator"],["insertorderedlist","in
sertunorderedlist","outdent","indent&quo
t;,"separator"],["subscript","super
script","separator"],["space","
;undo","redo","separator"],["k
illword","removeformat",
"htmlmode", "createlink",
"inserttable"]]
# ...
------------------------------------------------------------
----------
2. I unzipped my Xinha into
/usr/local/bricolage/comp/media/wysiwyg/xinha
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
(that first part might diverge from yours)
3. I did not apply the patch that's suggested in bric's
INSTALL file.

Which browser do you use?
I currently struggle with Internet Explorer (6?), in which
for some
strange reason, the xinha specific *.js file is not loaded.
So, if you use IE, try a Firefox first, to see whether it
works and
tell us.

In the element definition, where you normally define a field
as
textarea or textfield or checkbox, there should be a
"wysiwyg" (or
sth. similar) near the textarea.
You have to set the field to that, indeed.
In case of already existing textareas, you can edit that
field and
change "widget type" to "WYSIWYG".

There's options for adding Text Area, text box etc.
But theres no option for WYSIWYG, we're on quite an old
version 1.8.2,
guessing it may need upgrading to
allow for this change? Do you think this is the problem?

Yep. WYSIWYG was introduced in 1.10.0.
1.8.2 is very old and you should really upgrade, at least to
1.8.11 if not
to 1.10.2.

Agreed. The 1.10 series is *much* better, especially easier
to use.
Make backups.

Ok will get on with the upgrading.
In terms of this do you need to download all the subsequent
versions
from 1.8.2 up to 1.10.2
Or can I download 1.10.2 only and then upgrade?
James
PS. Thanks for the help everyone
