Hey Matt, we experience the same thing. When we upload a
media asset
(image) from within a story, it gets assigned to our Art
desk, which
does not have publishing privileges. When we then go to
publish the
story, the media assets don't get auto-published.
In thinking about this problem, I just realized that you can
configure
the start desk for media, story and template assets. I know
you're
interested in uploading to the same desk as the story, which
will be
variable, but I thought others might have not realized this
as well.
