We just upgraded our Bugzilla instillation from 2.22 to 3.0
yesterday.

It looks great! We immediately added a custom field. In
fact, the
ability to do that is what prompted the upgrade. I also
like the no
more accidentally submitting the same bug twice fix. I know
I've been
guilty of that on several occasions. Just closing and
reopening Firefox
after submitting a bug would do it when Firefox restored the
session.
Glad to see that one solved.

About the only problem we had was that Firefox users had to
clear their
browser cache or it tried to render the page with a cached
style sheet
from 2.22 and everything looked really ugly.

The only real installation problem I had was trying to get
all the Perl
modules installed onto a machine which is on a private LAN
physically
isolated from the Internet (so cpan doesn't help). The
bugzilla site
lists the Perl modules that it requires, but for some of
those I had to
follow dependencys three or four levels deep. I don't think
anything
can really be done about that though.

It should be possible to build a distro specific bundle with
the
required libraries bundled in or a PAR archive for that
situation.

Bundling a copy of PAR into bugzilla could make installation
a whole lot easier.
