Need advise ... Grid > Edit > Save

Hello,

I need an adivse.

I have a grid sow some records. WhenI click on a like, I'd
like to show the
details on an another page.

On this page, I'd like via a button edit (and save) the
informations.

The questions are :

The Show page and the Edit page are the same right ?

If yes, how can I do to disable modification when the page
is in show mode
(textbox, checkbox, ....)

Wich method do you use to do that ?
