Not that you should have to... but why not set up a
filter/rule to rid
your self of this daily displeasure?

So you're advocating everyone writing a kludge when the
poster won't
learn anything?
There's nothing for them to learn about dealing with lists
in general.
Most of them don't have the stones to come back to the list
and say
something, such as, "I'm sorry, I thought my email was
set up
correctly." (cough, chose, sputter)
I'll wager he won't read every message dropped into his
mailbox for lists.
The rude part is it was echoed back to the [entire] list.
Most of the newbs' email sends it to each poster.
1. Make it work.
2. Make it work right.
3. Make it work fast
I'd say the poster is trapped in a loop at #1, not unlike an
auto
decrement loop.

| A generic reporting strategy with local
sql reports |

|
2007-01-03 19:03:54 |
I became a big fan in vs.net 2003 of creating generic
reporting pages
for crystal reports, where I would use a simple ado-type
connection to
the database to create the report. The big advantage being
that I could
add a new report to the application without needing a
recompile - just
create the report and add a few parameters to a table.
Now with vs.net 2005 Im moving to the local SQL Server
reports, and as
best as I can tell they use 2 types of data sources:
strongly typed
datasets or generic lists. In other words, if I want to
report on a new
table, I have to touch app_code. Ouch. Is my understanding
correct?
Thanks
