VS2005: Global.asax <object> not available in CodeBehind. Is it so difficult?

I am sorry to bother you again, but I am starting with
ASP.Net (coming
from Asp) and this really looks like it would spare a lot of
repeated code
in every page.

No ideas, no alternative approaches to have Application or
Session objects
available, besides Session("object") and
Application("Object")?
