Web deployment project - stuck in (Debug)

I did see a similar note on another site - which is why I
mentioned that
I switched debug="false" with no effect...
Killing me!

It keeps compiling to debug only!

One thing I'll add.. I read in the white paper not to build
both the web
site and web deployment project so I am not building the
website in
Release configuration (just the deployment)... could this
cause the
problem?
