Dan Shonka, A Triumphant Homecoming In Bessemer, Alabama For 2006 NFL All-Pro Team ) Member KERRY RHODES http://www.ourlads.com
Bessemer, AL (PRWeb) January 12, 2007 -- Kerry Rhodes of the New York
Jets has confirmed his plans to attend his high school alma mater, to
cheer on his little brother Justin. Kerry, while at Jess Lanier High
School, led the basketball team to the 6A title game. Justin, now in
his junior year will have his #1 fan, his big brother Kerry showing his
support in the stands as he attempts to do the same.
Kerry, along with his RHODES Foundation, have renovation plans to
enhance the athletic department beginning in late May 2007. To
commemorate these enhancements, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held
during the RHODES Foundation's 1st Annual Celebrity Charity Weekend
this summer June 29 -July 1, 2007 with the celebrity basketball game on
June 30, 2007. During an interview with the NY Times, Kerry told the
reporter, "I always said, once I made it I would give back to my
community." Kerry is very mindful of the solid foundation and support
he gained during his time at Jess Lanier High. In honor of those
valuable gifts, this is one way Kerry is giving back to his community.
As Kerry gives, he is given to as well. On January 8, 2007, Kerry was
selected by the Associated Press to their 2006 NFL All-Pro Team. On
January 2, 2007 Sports Illustrated names Kerry to their All Pro Team
and ESPN.com chose Kerry as well for their 2006 All Pro Team (in Dec
2006). Additionally, Kerry was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
for Week 3 (2006 season) and honored with the 2006 Jets Sparkplug of
the Year Award. With 5 sacks, 4 interceptions and 9 defended passes
among many other impressive 2006 NFL stats, Kerry is very deserving of
these accolades.
