i bet the integrated graphics card uses up to 64mb of system
memory.
right click "My Computer"...there is some info
in the bottom right of that
first tab that should tell you how much RAM is available. I
have an older
laptop with a single 512MB RAM stick, but that tab reports
480Mb available
(32mb lost to integrated gfx)

Subject: [VBDOTNET] SQLExpress installation...
Greetings all,
We are trying to install the SQLExpress on a couple of
computers
here and the installation through the VS2005 install fails
because of
hardware requirements. We have looked at the requirements
and found that
we meet them. The memory requirement is minimum 192MB but
the
recommended is 512MB. On our computers here, we have 512MB
installed but
I don't think we have the full 512 MB available for use.
Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so, what was
your
solution? One of our solutions is we intend to upgrade the
computers to
1 GB to see if that resolves the problem. Hopefully that
will be the
cure and we can send a note to Microsoft that they should
raise the
memory requirements.
Best regards,
Jerry
