Resource will be split between two projects.

 

Project 1:

 

Contracted resource will to assist BCBSMA in building customized database views to enable end users to query data from a large ODS. Additionally, the individual will assist BCBSMA developers in modifying the enterprise data warehouse to incorporate selected data elements from the ODS environment.

 

Specifically the resource will:

 

 1) Develop materialized views of the underlying UDB database.

 

2) Modify underlying physical model when necessitated by poor performance characteristics.

 

3) Create/Enhance ETL scripts as needed to implement modifications to the ODS and data warehouse using Korn Shell, SQL and C in a 64 bit partitioned UDB (on AIX) environment.

4) Provide technical support to User Acceptance and Integration testing environments by researching suspected anomalies and periodically refreshing the environments.

 

 Project 2:

 

Contracted resource will to assist BCBSMA in implementing modifications to a large relational data mart and its associated ETL processes and integrated data feeds.  Specifically the resource will:

 

1) modify physical data models/ETL processes to accommodate changes to the Rating Data Mart or the associated feeds to the Blue Quote Plus application.

2) Enhance ETL scripts to support the data mart using Korn Shell and SQL and C in a 64 bit partitioned UDB (on AIX) environment.

 

3) Provide technical support to multiple User Acceptance and Integration testing environments by researching suspected anomalies and periodically refreshing the test data marts.

 

      4) Attend project meetings and communicate provide status updates.

 

Qualifications:  (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

 

         UDB (v 8.x) on AIX platform, ideally within a DATA WAREHOUSING environment.

 

         Korn Shell scripting, C

 

         Design experience using relational data models within a query environment.

 

         Strong communication skills
