Required Skills:

 

·        10+ yrs as Oracle DBA supporting 7.3.4 or above.

·        2 yrs exp programming in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, SQL Plus.

·        2+ yrs exp supporting a 9I RAC or 10G RAC environment.

·        Previous experience supporting mission critical web applications with a Web application tier (.NET is preferred).

·        Experience using database monitoring tools (i.e. Quest Spotlight, Oracle Enterprise Manager, TOAD DBA)

·        Proficient in Oracle database performance tuning and also proficient in interpreting and evaluating Oracle STATSPACK using an Oracle 9i or above database.

·        Proficient in understanding of Oracle internals (i.e. latch contention, wait events, Pl/SQL timer, etc)

·        Knowledge of Oracle 8i Fine Grained Security and (9i)Virtual Private Networks.

·        Proficient in SQL performance tuning, TKPROF/STATSPACK/COE EXPLAIN PLAN.

·        Proficient knowledge of utilizing Oracle parallelization in Oracle 9i or above, Oracle Database Sizing, Shell Scripting Programming on Unix.

·        Ability to interpret Oracle statspack report and make recommendations.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

·        Lead design of a leveraged 10G RAC database environment for two new mission critical/OLTP systems.

·        Build out 10G RAC database environment across 3 to 6 cluster.
This includes building out database instances and working system administrators on laying on file system.

·        This will be done for a proof of concept, load testing, production and disaster recovery environments.

·        Build out 10G Data Guard/RAC database environment in disaster recovery environment.

·        Develop evaluation criteria for Oracle 10G RAC on GRID proof of concept.

·        Develop test cases for various stress test/performance tuning exercises during proof of concept of Oracle 10G RAC on GRID.

·        Develop and test shell scripts with embedded SQL or PL/SQL statements for stress testing effort.

·        Production support of 10G RAC production environment will be required until in-house DBAs are fully proficient.

·        Mentor in-house DBAs in configuring, performance tuning, backup/recovery and day to day operational maintenance of an Oracle 10G RAC database environment.

·        Coordinate with current in-house development teams and DBAs on load testing effort.

·        Document 10G RAC design and additional system documentation as required.
