Cannot install client certificate

Message:
When trying to install my client certificate into a browser,
I get an error.

Opera says: "The client certificate had no matching
private key in the database."

Firefox says: "This personal certificate can't be
installed because you do not own the corresponding private
key which was created when the certificate was
requested"

Internet Explorer says: "Internet Explorer cannot
download ...php?id=6&cert=98635&install=1 from
www.cacert.org. Internet Explorer was not able to open this
Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or
cannot be found. Please try again later."

What is going on? What's up with this private key and why
was I able to install this certificate a few days ago on
another machine perfectly well?
