Repeating messages on Yahoo mailing lists

Yahoo seems to be suffering some kind of intermittent problem at the moment
which causes certain messages to be repeatedly posted to a mailing list. The
problem seems to be causing significant problems in some lists, with a number of
people unsubscribing in order to avoid it. (One of my own groups has had one
message posted at least eight times today.)

This problem is *not* spam on the part of the posters: in many cases they may
not even see the repeated messages. It is not the fault of the moderators of the
list: there are no settings configured improperly. (Some moderators have taken
the drastic step of shutting down their lists, and even this action does not stop the
repeated postings.)

Hopefully these lists will not see major storms. However, if you do see repeated
messages, please be patient. Yahoo is undoubtedly aware of the problem, alerted
by a number of irate moderators.

(Possibly the best way to deal with the issue, if you do see a storm of messages, is
to go to the Web interface on Yahoo and set your membership in a list to "No
mail" and read any traffic via the Web.)
