deliver in aggressive timelines. Developer will work closely with
both users and team members to provide solutions to business requirements

BASIC PURPOSE OF
POSITION:
The
Systems Analyst coordinates and defines system scope objectives through
research and fact-finding to develop or modify diversified information systems.
This professional must be competent to work in most phases of systems analysis
activities. Responsible for system requirements elicitation and
documentation. This involves working with the Product Manager to understand the
initial business rules and specifications. In addition to the systems
requirements, the analyst is responsible for the synthesis of the systems requirements
into a functional design. The analyst will participate to some extent in all
phases of the software development process; however their main responsibility
is for the completion of system requirements deliverables as well as the
functional design. The systems requirements are based on the Rational Unified
Process. These deliverables include, but are not limited to, System Use
Cases, Supplementary Requirements, Conceptual Models, The Functional Design
deliverables include User Interface Design, Reporting Design, Application Flow
and Business Logic.
SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•
Provides input and feedback on business process and business rules and
specifications that are developed by the Product Manager, e.g. business process
model, supplementary business specifications, and business roles
• Leads and
coordinates system requirements elicitation and analysis including development
of system use case models, system interface specifications, and any other
analysis modeling sessions
•
Responsible for leading and participating in the activities associated with
identifying and analyzing user requirements to develop functional design
specifications including development of User Interface Design, Reporting Design,
Application Flow and Business Logic, and any other analysis modeling sessions
• Works
with Product Managers, Product Planning Team, Systems Development Managers, and
System Development Team
REQUIREMENTS:
•
Identifies and enhances system processes based on business rules and
specifications, reviews new business rules and specifications , and ensures
traceability to the technology solution
•
Identifies repeating patterns in user requirements to help identify reusable
modules for the technology team
•
Serves as a liaison between the business and software development teams via
the translation of business specifications to functional designs. Works
with other systems analysts to facilitate alignment and integration between
projects or areas within a project.
• Creates
and maintains system use cases and models, activity and state diagrams,
supplemental requirement, analysis class diagrams, and system interface
(including user interface) specifications as appropriate
• Creates
and maintains functional design specifications as appropriate
•
Available to perform product reviews of test scripts or test plans as needed
•
Acts as a consultant to testers when there are questions or clarity is needed
on functionality
•
May assist the test team on defect prioritization or identification when their
consultation is requested
•
Collaborates with the technical team to:
o Create applicable analysis diagrams
o Participate as a reviewer in design
sessions
o Works closely with the Technology and
Business Teams, specifically the Architects, DBAs, Test, QA and Product Manager
to complete and validate system requirements
o Act as a
liaison with technical team and business partners (Business Owners and other
Business Team members )
QUALIFICATIONS:
•
A Bachelor39;s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent
work experience
•
Approximately 4-6 years of experience in systems analysis and/or application
program development
•
Analytical skills, including the ability to: gather, evaluate, and reconcile
information, decompose information, abstract information, distinguish presented
requirements from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas
from requirements
• Current
knowledge of web technologies
•
Strong knowledge and experience in system analysis and logical design and the
ability to determine comprehensive and complete system requirements and
functional specifications
• Strong
communication, facilitation, interpersonal, organizational, and project
management skills sound judgment and tact
• Ability
to work effectively with clients, management and staff members
•
Strong writing skills, to communicate information effectively to business,
management and technical staff
•
Strong modeling skills, to represent requirements and design information in
graphical forms that augment textual representations including using modeling
languages already established in the development organization (UML, DFD, BPMN,
ERD)
• Manage
requirements/design traceability information and track traceability status
throughout the project
•
Experience with Rational Unified Process (RUP)
