The CVS/Root file only records the used CVSROOT string, such
as:
 :sspi:cvsserver:/Repos
No storage is done of passwords here. Unless of course you
have used
the WinCvs CVSROOT Wizard earlier and supplied the password
as part of
this procedure. Then you have effectively broken all
security measures
by storing your *cleartext* password in each and every one
of these
Root files! Have to be edited out as a first measure!

There are a few protocols for which CVSNT requires a cvs
login
operation (pserver, sserver and the :sspi:usercvsserver:/repo version
of sspi). In these cases the password supplied by the user
on cvs
login is encrypted and stored in the Windows registry for
later re-use
by CVSNT on access to the same CVSROOT.

If such a password has been later changed in Windows then
CVSNT will
fail to connect in later attempts because it uses an
outdated
password. The solution in this case is:

- Select the module in the left hand pane
- Do a logout (type cvs logout in the command window or use
menu
Admin/Logout
- Do a login (type cvs login in teh command window or use
menu
Admin/Login)
- Supply the password and check the response from CVS.
If successful login has been done then you can now use ALL
modules you
have checked out using the same CVSROOT for your cvs
operations.
