Ok, I'm playing around with this now.  This isn't easily
reproducable on FreeBSD
because we get over MAXPATH before we hit the bug.  On Linux
I can reproduce the
problem, it seems to occur at 282 directories deep, although
I suspect that the
limit is more related to the length of the paths than the
number of directories.
