As noted in desc44 of issue #695:

Depth test 19 ("diff at various depths in non-infinity
wc") still fails when run
against a 1.4.x or older server. It is trying to find
text-base for
nonexistence A/mu during the first diff call... the short
story is: we need to
add ambient depth to *all* of our client side editors, like
the diff editor!

Also, glasser and I agreed that some cleanups in the update
editor are probably
warranted, and that is sort of related to this overall task,
since there may be
shared code for probing ambient depth between the update
editor and the diff
editor. See the thread ending in this message for more
about that:

I believe the above-attached shell script demonstrates that
'status' is behaving
correctly, would you concur?

Subclipse depends on svn st -uv for the Synchronize view.
There were some problems with
depth=unknown but Vlad has fixed them. It all is working
fine against the tigris.org servers (1.3?)

I think status is working properly.
