There are variety of reasons this might happend. I would
suggest you
create a new solution and try it there. The project
configuration might
be askew, try it on a brand new one. If it still doesn't
work, you
might want to look into IIS configurations because it might
redirect
there. Maybe you are using a weird browser.

For all interested the problem was a small, stupid mistake.
The code
was missing quotes around the actual link text in the anchor
tag.
