C-Sharp (C#) Group: C# newbie needs some IDE advice ...

I'm a C# newbie. I've used C, VB, and PASCAL in the past.
Even a touch
of C++ and ASM a long time ago.

I've been asked to look into some work on an existing
project that has
been implemented in C# and accesses some SQL tables.

Until I get the Microsoft .Net tools installed, can I get by
with
something like this? Is there some other open source or
freeware tool
that is better?

What is the one book you would recommend on C# and .Net?

Thanks very much in advance!

You can get visual c# express as a free download from
Microsoft. It's a
great development environment and I recommend looking into
it.
