Hi everyone
New to the list

Can anyone tell me why I can not move Camino 1.5.5 from the

installation window over to Applications? I am an
'administrator' on
our eMac, so usually no issue with updating software. We are
running
1.0.4 on OS X 10.3.9, prompted to download the new version
when
visiting the Camino page (looking for answers to another
question - so
haven't even got to that yet!).

The first message that pops up tells me there is an
existing/older
version, do I want to replace it? Yes.
Then the next one says I have insufficient privileges and
cannot
complete the operation.

I had quit Camino in both my user and the other user's
account, not
running at all when I tried to install the new version.

Any ideas?

cheers
R.

The Finder is unfortunately rather stupid when it comes to
replacing
applications that were installed by someone else; instead
you'll have
to drag the old copy to the trash (which will prompt you to
authorize
as an administrator), then copy in the new version.

Thanks Stuart... if I do this, will I lose any bookmarks etc
from the
old version?
Would it be better if I log in to the other user a/c to do
the download
and install from there?
R.

Stuart,
the installation instructions/readme also prompt the user
to save/
backup specific folders when switching versions, etc right
?

Hi there
Deleting the old version did work fine in allowing me to
install the
new version... very simple and effortless really! I LOVE
Camino!!!

Thanks both of you for that help. I did also copy the files
as
mentioned (not quite sure what I'd do with them if I needed
them) but
all appears intact in the new browser.
BTW I didn't get Stuart's reply, so thanks LSS for replying
and keeping
his message in the email!
cheers
Rebecca
