Actually,

As Mugur is moving to his new apartment, Holman, can you
take a look at
this? (Mugur, if you get around to it, you can do it too,
but let's solve
this issue).

Hello Mugur,

The server has the latest PHPwrapper 1.1.7 and the site
default character
set is UTF-8 however the problem still exists.

I tried changing the character set to windows-1256 (Arabic).
The whole page
came out garbage but when I submitted the comment, it was
saved and
displayed in the campsite interface the same way it is when
we submitted
the comment with UTF-8 encoding. So it seems that the page
encoding has
nothing to do with way the Arabic comments are saved.

We also ran into a runtime error when were deleting the
comments. We
submitted the error using the Bug reporter. Did you get it?

What do you think we can do to solve the issue with Arabic
comments?

Hi Fadi,

Please make sure the following conditions are met:
- you installed the latest PHPwrapper (1.1.7)
- the site default character set is UTF-8

I tested comments with both cyrillic and arabic characters
and IT WORKS
correctly on my computer (see attached screenshots), so it's
not a Campsite
bug.

Regards,
Mugur

Hi,

Holman, could you take over support staff and urgent issues
like this encoding problem? I surely
won't be able to reply quickly to these requests this week.

Regarding the encoding issue, I wasn't able to replicate it,
works ok on my system. Please debug
this on code.campware.org and cs-dev.

Hi Holman,

Do you have any suggestion on fixing this? We can give you
access to the

Thanks.

comments encoding issue

Raed! good morning!

as Mugur pointed out, it works well on my system, i am able
to manage
Arabic characters all around Campsite.

be sure your pages have utf-8 like default charset, this is:

<meta http-equiv="content-type"
content="text/html; charset=utf-8">

within the corresponding <head> area.

on the other hand, in my case (i dont know Mugur's), utf-8
is the
default charset for data storage in the MySQL database.
check this out
too.

comments encoding issue
user name
2006-10-23 15:08:00
Raed !

Sava told me about the Author/Email problem in Campsite
frontend
(templates) when writing comments in Arab. They are
displayed in
unicode encoding format. I figured out it is because the
email
obfuscation, so if you use:

<!** print articlecomment readerEmail>

instead of:

<!** print articlecomment readerEmailObfuscated>

they will be displayed in a right way.

Arabic chars within the admin area are still working Ok for
me, anyway.

let us know about your advance on this.
