Hi Jim,
You don't have to install the Campcaster Studio package if you don't need it; all you have to do in that case is install campcaster-libs and campcaster-station; this will leave you with the HTML UI and the Campcaster Storage Server.
As for podcasting, one feature we've wanted for some time is the ability to render individual files into a single, long file. It is one of the Campcaster features that will have to wait until we move the sound engine from Gstreamer 0.8 to Gstreamer 0.10; that work is underway now for the Campcaster 1.3 "Dakar" release, tentatively scheduled for November.
Another suggestion on podcasting is to look at what the DarkIce streaming program can do; one of its features is that it can provide audio archiving, actual sound recordings of your broadcast. This may actually be better for you because you can record the output from the mic mixer, not just the Campcaster playout. This is especially helpful in taking slices of a regular broadcast and automatically making MP3s from them, for example.
Hope this helps,
douglas

Hi Jim,
Sorry for the late reply, we had our annual meeting in Prague and we were very busy.
We should release 2.7.0 in about 2-3 weeks. Even so, 2.7.0-rc4 is stable so you can use it.
What it is to gain from using Campcaster is that you'll have an audio archive. Without campcaster you'll be able to attach audio files but you won't have metadata, you won't be able to print it in the templates.
Regards,
Mugur

We are looking to add podcast integration into our publication. I saw that in 2.7 that there is support for campcaster audio files. Is there anything to gain by using campcaster for just serving up the podcast files? We are on a server, so I am assuming that the gui for campcaster useless to us. When does 2.7 come out officially?
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks guys, I think I have decided to go ahead with campcaster, provided my sys-admin okay's it. The hook-in with campsite is very appealing! I guess I will head on over to the campcaster list and figure out how to install!
Thanks, Jim
