I am running memtest now on that machine, how long should I
run it for to
get a good result?

12 to 72 hours, or until you get a ram failure. The trouble
with all those
tests is that they can prove a failed memory module, but
can't prove the
thing's ok, so the longer you run it, the higher the chance
that the memory
is in fact fuctioning as it should.
