2) ZUBAIR'S TIP O' THE WEEK: QUICKLY SEARCHING MS KNOWLEDGE
BASE ARTICLES

QUESTION:
How can I quickly search for Microsoft Knowledge Base
articles?

ANSWER:
You can modify the registry to add the capability to quickly
search
the KB articles (formerly referred to as Q articles) in
Windows XP
or Windows Server 2003. Here's the procedure:

 1. Run regedit.exe.
 2. Go to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet
ExplorerSearchUrl.
 3. From the Edit menu, select New, Key and name it KB.
 4. Select the new KB folder that you just created under the
SearchUrl folder, and in the right-hand pane
double-click Default.
 5. For Value data, enter http://support
.microsoft.com/?kbid=%s.
 6. Click OK and close the registry editor.

To test this procedure, open Internet Explorer and type KB
followed
by the name of the KB article number (for example, to search
for
article number 832980, type "kb 823980"). It
should take you directly
to the article in your browser.

Make sure that you don't add KB as a key in the SearchUrl
folder. KB
should be a subfolder of the SearchUrl folder and it should
contain
the above entry in the right-hand pane.

I've tested this procedure successfully on Windows XP and
Windows
Server 2003 operating systems, and on Internet Explorer and
Mozilla
Firefox browsers.

*Changing EIGRP Metrics* (CCNA/CCNP Forum)

forums712 writes:
"I have a branch office with a 3560 as its main LAN
router. All
traffic is told from this router to go out a 2610 over a
1.5MB line.
There is a backup line running off an MPLS 2820 router via a
1.5MB
line, as well. All three of these routers are running EIGRP.
My
problem is since both lines are 1.5MB, how can I tell the
3560 to
prefer the T1 off the 2610 rather than the 2820? I want the
2820
as the failover router. Would I also have to change the
metrics at
the remote site?"

*Linking CallManager 4 to AI Office* (Cisco -- Real World
Forum)

superduperlopez writes:
"Has anyone out there successfully linked AI Office to
Cisco
CallManager 4.2? Apparently, I have to link the AI Office
collector
to a .UDL file created by CallManager. I have done a search
for any
such a file on the CallManager server but there isn't one.
Anyone
have any ideas about how could I make the CallManager create
a .UDL
file? Or where is it?"

*Cisco to Power LAN & Connect to Internet* (Cisco --
Real World Forum)

pentium4forever:
"Right now I have a Linksys wired router I use. I have
an ISP that
provides wireless, I have everything hard-wired a.k.a. wired

Ethernet. The connection itself is high-speed wireless,
there's an
antenna on my TV tower and signals and shot from a good 10
miles
away. The service overall has worked surprisingly well and I
have
about 80 percent good path according to the ISP when I first
got
the service. I know the IP address that the ISP gives me
that I can
view through my Linksys router, the two DNS addresses. and
default
gateway. How do I add these to my Cisco router, or can it
actually
be done? Would I just have to add both ISP DNS addresses
when I'm
configuring the DHCP pool? What about the WAN IP address
that
they assign?"

*Port Aggregation* (Cisco -- Real World Forum)

modern_crusader writes:
"I have a Windows server with two 1GPS NICs and a Cisco
3560G switch.
What I want to do is connect the server's NICs to two ports
on the
switch which would act as one port. Is this feasible and how
would
I do this?"
