All,

I am not a Product Engineer but I am, unfortunately, doing
this at work because the
PE dude at my work place is doing stuffs that I think is
wrong so here we go.

I've been reading through Nokia IPSO 4.1 release notes,
specifically IPSO 4.1
build 013, build 016 and build 019 and I found the the
following:

1- On page 19 of IPSO 4.1 build 013 release note, it
specifically states that this ipso
build supports NGx R60. I do not see anywhere in the
documentation that specifically
states that it supports NGx R61.

2- On page 24 of IPSO 4.1 build 016 release note, it
specifically states that this
ipso build supports NGx R60. Again, I do not see anywhere
in the documentation
that specifically states that it supports NGx R61.

3- On page 28 of the IPSO 4.1 build 019 release note, it
specifically states that it
supports both NGx R60 and NGx R61

From what I am reading in the release notes, it seems to
me that both IPSO
build 013 and IPSO 4.1 build 016 are NOT certified to run
Checkpoint NGx R61, and
that only IPSO 4.1 build 019 is certified to run NGx R61.

Therefore, from reading the Nokia release notes, the
combination of IPSO 4.1
build 016 with Checkpoint NGx R61 is NOT a support
configuration.

Is that the correct interpretation? Thanks

  cisco4ng

you guys seem to miss the point. It is not a matter of
whether it works. It's a
matter of support and legal liablity. Heck, I can make NG
Feature Pack 3 run on
IPSO 4.1 but it is not a support configuration Sure, I
can make IPSO4.1 runs on
the Nokia IP650 but it is not a support configuration
either.

Therefore, I am looking for a definitive answer.

IPSO 4.x and Checkpoint NGx combination explaination needed

Before you start name calling such as calling me an idiot, I
think it is a good idea
for you to check with Nokia R&D before you start
calling people name. They
can tell you a few things that you may not know about IPSO
4.1 and NG
  Feature Pack 3.

There are many times I have to do things against my wishes
just because that's what
the customer wanted to do even though I know that it is
not the corrective action.
That being said, one thing that I've in my ten years of
IT services is that "customers
  are always right".

Who would run FP3 on 4.1, only an idiot.

matter of whether it works. It's a
matter of support and legal liablity. Heck, I can make NG
Feature Pack 3 run on
IPSO 4.1 but it is not a support configuration Sure, I can
make IPSO4.1 runs on
the Nokia IP650 but it is not a support configuration
either.

Therefore, I am looking for a definitive answer.

NGX R62 runs great on IPSO 4.1 I would think so would R61.
Maybe you should set ti up in your lab play with it.

All,

I am not a Product Engineer but I am, unfortunately, doing
this at work because the
PE dude at my work place is doing stuffs that I think is
wrong so here we go.

I've been reading through Nokia IPSO 4.1 release notes,
specifically IPSO 4.1
build 013, build 016 and build 019 and I found the the
following:

1- On page 19 of IPSO 4.1 build 013 release note, it
specifically states that this ipso
build supports NGx R60. I do not see anywhere in the
documentation that specifically
states that it supports NGx R61.

2- On page 24 of IPSO 4.1 build 016 release note, it
specifically states that this
ipso build supports NGx R60. Again, I do not see anywhere in
the documentation
that specifically states that it supports NGx R61.

3- On page 28 of the IPSO 4.1 build 019 release note, it
specifically states that it
supports both NGx R60 and NGx R61

From what I am reading in the release notes, it seems to me
that both IPSO
build 013 and IPSO 4.1 build 016 are NOT certified to run
Checkpoint NGx R61, and
that only IPSO 4.1 build 019 is certified to run NGx R61.

Therefore, from reading the Nokia release notes, the
combination of IPSO 4.1
build 016 with Checkpoint NGx R61 is NOT a support
configuration.

Is that the correct interpretation? Thanks

Going back to the initial question and stepping out of the
high school
teenager name calling...

I would say if it is a matter of legal liability, stick to
what the
documentation says and install R61 ONLY on an IPSO version
which release
notes ensure it runs over. That way if something goes wrong
you have
something official to back you up.
