Can threads be stored in a session?

Hi, I am new to cherryPy and python. I really am not all
that
experienced at web programming either, but I have done a
number of
things with java servelts/JSPs. One thing in particular I
found myself
doing was having the servlet container start a background
thread which
performs some task and then storing a reference to the
thread in a
session. The user could then control the thread from the
browser (like
stop it and start it again). Is the same thing possible with
cherryPy?
