Greetings CJUG,
A location has been set for the September and
October speakers. We will be hosting the talks, courtesy of Loyola
University9;s Computer Science Department, at the Loyola Facilities on
25 East Pearson. Networking will be held from 6:00 - 6:30, food and drink served, and the talk
will run from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Jeff Brown is one of the speakers of the
No Fluff Just Stuff series and
looks to have a very interesting presentation on Grooooooovy. If there
are any questions or issues please let me know and I will do my best to answer and resolve them.
Also,
the upcoming speakers have been determined for October and November;
October will be Dave Klein's presentation on Grails and November will
be an Oracle presentation has not yet been determined however it is
assured to be interesting and quite relevant to today's technology.
Oracle, has provided a list of topics and Anil and I are in the process
of choosing one that will hold the greatest interest for the JUG.
Furthermore, CJUG will be holding votes for the open positions
on the board which will take place in Mid-October. New officers will
be announced at the October event. As a side note regarding polling,
please think about what types of speakers and topics that the Chicago Java Community would like
to see in the future? (Thick client, desktop applications, client
implementations, etc.) We have been doing a continuing series on web
frameworks and web 2.0 related topics. Please keep this in mind and
let us know your thoughts.
Lastly,
CJUG will be hosting a Winter Symposium in February. Kevin Taylor is
going to be heading up the effort and we will have a great line up of
speakers and presentations for you. If your company would be
interested in sponsoring the event or if you would like to provide
input into the types of speakers you would like to see please contact
Kevin or I. Hint: The more sponsorships that are garnered the higher
quality event can be organized at the lowest cost to the attendees(You).
That is all for now. I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming talks.
Regards,
George Foster
