SUMMARY:
Ruby on Rails is the latest web framework that is
taking the development community by storm. It combines
the power and expressiveness of Ruby with a full
stack, MVC based framework aimed at making the typical
database-backed web application easy. It uses
convention over configuration (no XML!) and was
created to keep the developer happy instead of the
compiler or vendors.
In this presentation we'll take a whirlwind tour of
Ruby before doing a quick demo app in Rails. We'll
talk about why you should care about Rails, what its
_not_ good at right now, and what Java developers can
learn from Rails and start applying today.
SPEAKER BIO:
