Bonsoir !

My name is Pascal LACROIX, "Pascalou" for
friends.
French, leaving near LE HAVRE

I have a training of Merchant Marine officer, and I am
working as
Harbour Master.

Young, I was fascinated by the quality of the photographs of
the
Gallery Nikon, a Parisienne gallery now disappeared from the
Latin
Quarter ( rue de seine). In 1976, I bought my first camera,
photo is my
first hobby, linux is the second one.

Tradionnelle photography yields the place to the numerical
one. I like
the color. Seeking a software of digital processing which
has a wide
management of the colors for my linux box, I discover
Cinepaint.

I know nothing in C++ and coding technics, but I wish to be
involved in
Cinepaint project. I just started working on the french
translation
( po ). ( from your cvs)

I believe that the French contributors are not very active
in your
project. I wish to take part in a project of quality.

Pascal,

welcome on this list.

Indeed the translations for CinePaint are very young.
Therefore you are
the first translator for the french internationalisation. As
well, please
dont hesitate to ask questions, the README might have some
holes yet.

The most po files come from the older Gimp project. The UI
had some
strings together. For the interesting colour management
there is nothing
inherited.

A help to ashure quality would be, to report bugs in a way
that makes them
easy to reproduce. This can be a serious amount of work.
Such a recipe
would be highly appreciated by the developers (mostly me for
the gtk
version).

An other field for improvements is the current state of
documentation.
It is not readable like a book, as most users would expect,
and has many
uncovered areas. Partitially it can be filled by content
from the Gimp
project, but not in all areas. See:
http://cinepaint.bigasterisk.com/CinePaintDocumentation

We would be glad to see any contribution.
For the french po file you can eighter send it to
CinePaint's
sourceforge.net patch site:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=75029&
;atid=542708
or to me directly to check it into CVS afterwards. The first
way ashures
the files dont get lost.

kind regards
