Yes it does thank you. I have also looked at gauss_rle.c as
well because 
I need to filter. I know enough to experiment now. I want to
create a 
unsharp mask like filter where division is used instead of
subtraction 
by the blurred image to bring up the dark parts of the
images.  Regards
