Trouble with 64 bit make install

I have SuSE 10.0 running on an AMD 2800+ x86_64 and
couldn't get the RPM
to install -- a 64 bit library with 32 bit RPM problem. I
downloaded the
20.1 tar ball, successfully did a configure and then a make.
I then did
su and make install which failed. The console output
starting with
warnings is below. Would you have any advice or solace.

Hi George,

these bugs are fixed in version 0.20-2, you should download
the tarball cinepaint-0.20-2.tar.gz (to find in the download
list
of "CinePaint-0.20-1" - a bit missleading). And
the list is ordered
by the scheme "the newest comes last", whereas I
intuitivly regularly 
expect "the newest comes first".
