I'm now trying to install Cinepaint-0.22-0 in its place and
get the
following error in "make".

I've previously installed various versions of Cinepaint
without this
problem, including Cinepaint-0.22-0_rc6, which remains
installed, but in
a non-conflicting directory.
Has anybody any ideas how to overcome this?

printf requires a
#include <stdio.h>
for posix. Include and this should be solved.

Seems you are building a gtk1 binary. Is this intentional?
For gtk2 use the configure option --enable-gtk2 .
The gtk1 build is fixed here localy. It will be in CVS
tomorrow and in the
next bugfix release.

Try a
make clean
make
to remove all gtk1 symbols before building.

Well that worked, thanks, but then I have problems running
it. I still
have cinepaint-0.22.0_rc6 installed under a separate
directory. It
works OK and doesn't seem to be in conflict.
BUT - with cinepaint-0.22-0, when I try to set the
Preferences I get the
following, which I don't get with the rc6.
============================================================
=======
/usr/local/bin/./cinepaint fatal error: sigsegv caught
/usr/local/bin/./cinepaint (pid:24270): [E]xit, [H]alt, show

The following result is common to both cinepaint-0.22-0 and
cinepaint-0.22.0_rc6, but does not seem to affect the
functioning,
except that I have ufraw-0.10 installed in /usr/local and it
apparently
isn't recognised.

Cant say much about with only this information. Eighter move
the
~/.cinepaint directory away or run with gdb to obtain a
backtrace.
shell# gdb cinepaint
... reproduce the crash
shell# bt
... attach the output to an email to the devel-list or to
me.

UFRaw is in its standalone form not suitable to run as a
plug-in. You
would need to build the plug-in after cinepaint is installed
and
cinepainttool can be found by UFRaw. UFRaw (0.12?) with
CinePaint support
is not yet released. You'd have to use UFRaw from CVS
currently.

GTK2 has changed many interfaces. So I dont know what these
messages mean.

CinePaint has some defaults for ICC profiles. If they are
not found some
messages will be emitted. Nothing to worry as long as you
dont want colour
management.

Here the installed ghostscript version is shown.

The older rawphoto plug-in runs here. The editing tools of
raw images are
available in CinePaint. Alternatively, UFRaw with its
preview has many
just in one place.
