Symptom:
CER Onsite alert receives dead air
Sorry, hit send before I finished pasting...
CSCsg03127
Conditions:
CER 1.2(3) or 1.3(1a) with Onsite Alertees through external
gateways
(cell phones etc)
Further Problem Description:
CER Onsite Alert mechanism has no voice detection and plays
audio
immediately after a connect state. In Skinny devices this is
an
issue with voicemail and was worked around by adding the
RETRY
COUNTER to the PlayMessages.properties file. This workaround
also
works for gateway users.
This issue is different and unique due to the PSTN factor.
PSTN
connection adds unknown delay to the equation. The default
retry
counter is 1 which all but completes speaking before the
external
phone (cell phone) is connected. The user hears dead
silence, does
not get the message, feels that CER is broke. If the user
thinks
enough to hit asterisk (*) then the call repeats.
This is a specific problem to PSTN because of the fact that
we cut
through audio at the CALL PROCEEDing stage with gateway
calls - both
H323 and MGCP. When audio is cut through (be it via
StartMediaTransmission or whatever the trigger) CER starts
speaking.
Workaround:
Set the rC-RETRY counter in the PlayMessage.properties file
to value
greater than 1
