what MPLS boiled down to for my company was public services.
we were
interest in providing public services. with Sprint the
Layer2 MPLS
relied on Sprint firewalls, Layer3 relied on corporate
firewalls, having
sprint manage the firewall and trying to get them to make
timely changes,
that and VPN tunnels through the MPLS cloud ruled out layer2
MPLS, we
couldn't get a decent SLA with layer3 MPLS. Layer2 MPLS
runs over the
Sprint backbone, Layer3 over the internet. we eventually
nixed the whole
idea. just 2 cents worth MPLS experience...
