CCIE R&S does not cover voice at all. Go for the CCVP -
you'll find that it
is actually more valuable in the marketplace than a CCIE in
R&S. I speak
from experience. I am presently looking for work as a
R&S CCIE and cannot
find a job (lucky if I even get an interview). I can't tell
you how many
times I have been told "if you just had some voice on
your resume".
I guess the CCIE in Routing and Switching is much like a
Bachelor's degree
today (a recruiter told me that). By itself it won't get
you a job, but
everyone else your competing with has one so you had better
have one too if
you want to get a networking job.
If I was in your position, I would definitely forget the
R&S CCIE and do the
CCVP. You'll get a job faster and make more money than a
R&S CCIE (I hate
to say it, but its true). Plus, it won't cost you as much
money to get as a
CCIE (you can always go back and do a CCIE afterwards).
Good luck,
B Jim
