Also forget to mention that you may want to mark the traffic
from the
server with an ip prec or dscp value. Doing this will
simplify your
end-to-end QoS deployment.

Arun,

I need some clarification to your question. You mention QoS
and also
allowing a server to pass a high volume traffic and then
mention
flow-control. I'm assuming that you want to give you server
guaranteed
amount of bandwidth over links during congestion. If that is
the case,
you probably want configure LLQ or CBWFQ if the traffic is
not delay
sensitive. You would first classify traffic originated from
your sever
with a class-map and then create a policy-map. In the
policy-map you
will identify your class (traffic from the server) and the
put it in the
priority (if LLQ is used) queue and assign it bandwidth. You
also have
to remember that with the priority queue the traffic is
policed so any
traffic exceeding the allowed amount will be dropped.

As for something similar to TCP flow-control, I can only
think of
shaping or policing. If you actually want to actually avoid
congestion
by manipulating TCP flows (dropping) you would use WRED.

I recommend doing plenty of research before attempting to
utilize QoS as
the topic takes plenty of time to comprehend. If you deploy
QoS willy
nilly you run into the chance of unintentionally starving
traffic.
