Yes, same version of Clippings for both Firefox (1.5.0.6) and Thunderbird (1.5.0.5).
Clippings data are different between the two apps. Only English and Chinese texts are saved.
Will uninstalling Clippings for Firefox and then reinstalling it again make me loose all the present data??? How do I get to save a copy of the present data seeing this situation because without a backup, I do not feel like experimenting.

Are you using the same versions of Clippings on both Firefox and Thunderbird? It's strange that export works in one but not the other. Is the clippings data the same between the two apps, or are they different? Are there any special characters (e.g. typographical symbols, foreign language characters, etc.) in any of your clippings? What versions of Firefox and Thunderbird is Clippings installed in?

Your Clippings data that is used in Firefox is stored in a
file in
your Firefox user profile directory named
"clipdat2.rdf" - ditto for
Thunderbird. So when uninstalling the extension,
clipdat2.rdf will be
preserved since its location is separate from where the
extension is
installed.

If you want to make a copy of the data source file, you can
simply
copy the above file to another location on your computer.

FYI, I did a quick test, exporting clippings data containing
both
English and Chinese characters, and I had no problems.

P.S.: Could you please use plain text only for your emails
to this
mailing list? The mailing list system seems to keep
flagging your
HTML-formatted replies as possible spam.
