We use a network benchmark test that transfers 10,000,000
bytes of data over TCP between a target board and a PC that
are connected via a 100 Mbps switch. The target board runs
first a chargen client and then a discard client,
communicating
with Windows XP servers on the PC.
We measure the throughput and percent CPU utilization. I
have the following results for our TargetOS/TargetTCP on
the m5282lite and m5474lite, the compiler is gcc:
chargen server
MCF5282 21.1 Mbps at 100.0% utilization
MCF5474 74.8 Mbps at 96.7% utilization
discard client
MCF5282 27.0 Mbps at 96.3% utilization
MCF5474 81.6 Mbps at 84.0% utilization
The MCF5282 is running at 64 MHz with the instruction
cache and buffered writes enabled. The MCF5474 is
running at 132 MHz with the instruction cache enabled
and the data cache enabled in write-through mode.
