I was going to work on something like this in the next week
or two, but not as a button, just as a default function of
the document, so that when a person sends it to the printer,
it looks right without them taking special steps, clicking
special buttons, whathaveyou.

CSS allows you to specify different stylesheets based on the
particular display method, and I was just going to build one
that'll look good when printed, and then call it at the
head of each page like so:

<link rel="stylesheet"
type="text/css" media="print"
href="print.css">

The media="print" part is the trick (you can
also specify media=all, aural, braille, embossed, handheld,
projection, screen, tty, and tv). Future CSS will probably
specify other types, as new technologies become available -
see http://www.
w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/media.html.

Haven't tried it in Commonspot yet, but I'm sure it'll
work just fine.

I was actually going to email this list with the same
question this morning.
You have great timing! In addition to the "email a
friend" function we
would also like to add a "printer friendly page"
button to our pages.

How have people been implementing this?
