Hi,
Using CommuniGate Pro v. 4.3.8, WebMail interface, I sent a
message from
my domain (elettra.trieste.it), To: claudio.allocchio garr.it
and
Cc: riccardo.tommasini, paolo.michelini, romina.skabar (who
are local
users), without specifying the local domain...
The (remote) receiver of that message would get an error
when he try to
answer to that message using reply/all, just because
CommuniGate Pro
sends out the local addresses without adding the local
domain
( elettra.trieste.it).
These is a serious error! in fact any external MTA like
Sendmail will
add its own local domain to any unqualified address...
Is there any setting in CGP to fix this kind of error?
Following you can find the header as it was received by the
remote
receiver...

Settings->Router
There should be a setting to add a common domain
part to all
non-qualified domains.

I've been asking CommuniGate to fix this for a while, and
asked them
again this last summer. There's actually an RFC that says
the should be
doing this already (RFC 1123, section 5.2.18, which says
that the FQDN
should specifically be added in the message headers so that
remote sites
are able to form proper replies to messages).
I have also been working on a filter that will do it, based
on a
configuration file that takes a regular expression and
replaces it with
a given domain (so you can give it "^$" as the
regular expression if you
want it to replace addresses without any domain at all).
So, this not
only allows you to force CGP to send out email with fully
qualified
To/From/CC header addresses, it also lets you do Sendmail
style
masquerading on those headers.
I'll see about getting this out sooner.

That is applied to the envelope addresses only, and not the
message
headers, IIRC. So, it helps with the initial message
delivery, but not
for remote recipients who want to reply to the message.
