Karl,
In CGPro's configuration for the domain 'example.org', you'd
first have to
make sure that you set "Mail To Unknown Names" is
set to "Rejected". That's
the default, and from your explanation, that is already the
way it would be
configured.
Then, in the routing table, you make the per-user entries as
described.
You can reduce the amount of typing in the routing table as
follows:
First, do one line as follows:
XYZ = example.org 172.16.16.1.25.via
Then for each user:
<jdoe *> = jdoe XYZ
<cdoe *> = cdoe XYZ
Since mail to any domain that is not defined in CGPro will
not be accepted,
the * will not allow mail to other domains.
Regards,
Peter Leye

Subject: CGP in front of Exchange
Have a CGP server that we would like to use to help
protect an Exchange 2000 server from spam/virus with
SpamAssassin and Clamav. Its a small server of about 10
users and it getting hammered pretty hard with spam right
now.
I know I can route all mail through CGP and on to Exchange
with a router record like this
example.org = example.org 172.16.16.1.25.smtp
where the IP address 172.16.16.1 is the Exchange server.
But can I restrict this in some way to so only valid
recipient email addresses go on to Exchange?
If vincent example.org does not exist on the Exchange
server I would like to router not to forward it on.
Would setting up router entries for each valid address
work? i.e. if jdoe and cdoe are valid addresses
<jdoe example.org> = jdoe example.org 172.16.16.1.25.smtp
<cdoe example.org> = cdoe example.org 172.16.16.1.25.smtp
Will a non-valid address not go on to Exchange?
