Norm--help me out here. does Christina not have to install the o/s to the new HDD if it is to be the primary? Won't she also have to reinstall her programs?

If she is using XP, can't she partition if she desired from XP disk management the new drive?

if she plans to add programs to the new drive and use it as the primary source of data which seems reasonable as it s the newer and faster drive, then can't she move her data via XP files transfer wizard or simply use drag/drop &/or the move command to get the data from the old drive to the new?

I don't recall if she is trying to do the install of the new drive herself or getting the tech to do this and set up the old drive as slave.

This is the sort of stuff I don't have a handle on so I'm just inquiring as to the methods available.

A backup program for OE would be a good idea probably as I'm not familiar if XP has a method of moving OE from one drive to another.

any info to help my understanding would be great

Thanks a bunch. After all this I was considering buying it at Best Buy
then paying the tech desk to install it and copy it over, but if the
software comes with it and there is a manual then I want to do it
myself. I probably will keep the old drive in the computer once it's
copied over to use for backups or other things.
