Here is what I post in all my auctions

SHIPPING: We ship Priority Mail (unless the item calls for a
larger
shipping method). Most items shipped by Priority Mail can be
shipped for
$7.00, thus a flat shipping rate of $7.00 regardless of the
item because
that is the lowest amount USPS charges for Priority Mail.
Should an item
exceed the $7.00 minimum then the next higher rate is
listed. We add a
$5.00 fee to all items regardless of the size to ensure
proper time is
spent in packing and protecting the item in shipping. The
cost of
getting the item to you is more then the postage, it is the
packing as
well. So by adding that $5.00 fee you are assured that your
item is
properly packed and well protected. So the minimum fee for
Shipping and
Handling is $12.00 regardless. We also require insurance on
all items,
and the fee is $3.00 to ensure your item is well insured
against lost or
damage, it protects both you and the item you bought. So the
minimum
total fee on all my listings is $15.00 for Shipping,
handling, and
insurance.
RETURNS: We test electronic items we list, non electronic
items
(Jewelry, Cards…) are described in detail explaining any
defects, photos
are taken to give an idea of the item. What is shown and
what is
detailed is as exact of a description that can be given,
therefore most
of our items have a non-return policy. Basically we feel
that if you bid
on the item and we are honest in the listing then you are
aware of what
you are bidding on. On some items however we do offer a
return, this may
be due to the uncertainty of the item itself (Processors,
similar items)
and the return time is 10 DAYS from the time it was sent
out. Priority
Mail takes 2-3 DAYS thus you have 7 DAYS to ensure the item
is working.
We do not offer returns on items that have any signs of
tampering. When
an item is returned it will be inspected and the chain of
inspection
will be documented, if tampering is found no return is
granted and the
item is returned to you. If no tampering is evident then a
refund is
granted.
On every item I ship I require that when the item is
delivered someone
sign for it. This is to protect the customer. By getting
that signature
or not getting it, if the item is lost or damaged in transit
then it
gives futher proof to the Post Office that it never arrived
and speeds
up the claim process for the customer. This way the customer
does not
have to go throught the process of convencing the Post
Office that they
did not get it. You work very hard for your money and when
something is
lost or damaged in the mail and you have to take the time to
convince
the Post Office of something it takes even more time and
money. By
signing for the item it stops all of that. The fee for the
signature is
included in the cost of Shipping & Handling. On avrage
the entire cost
of shipping an item Priority Mail, Insurance, Signature, and
Packiing
Material comes right at $15.00 every time for avrage size
items. So
please if there is ever a question about the cost of
shipping, please
e-mail me.

started back with eBay and using PayPal. $15 sounds like a
lot but depending on the item and making sure it is packed
and shipped properly and also as long as that is in your
description of shipping, the buyer shouldn't have any
problems with the charge. Recently, I bid on something,
then asked the seller a question about the "small
handling fee" twice, but he never answered....I was
extremely relieved when someone outbid me on it. I will not
purchase anything if I don't know exactly how much the
shipping will be.

One question? Do you sell much?!
I for one would read about 4 sentences of that LONG
detailed shipping description and be off shopping with someone
else! And I would not pay those prices. I hate it when people
charge the same fee for ALL their items, no matter 1lb. or 6lbs.

Good luck as I think you will need it. Maybe not

Here in the U.S. to ship something Priority Mail cost $7.70 to add
insurance cost $3.00 to get it signed for cost about $2.00 thats about
$13 of it, her in the U.S. mail is a costly event and one that most have
taken for granted it will always get there. If say a buyer paid $100.00
for an item and I did not insure it, or ask for the signature and it got
lost, he is out his money, what is the lesser of two evils, $15.00 of
$100.00?

Gregory,
Here in the US I have a package sitting here right now
waiting for the mail man tomorrow morning and I am
shipping it Priority mail. It cost me approx. $5.00 and
it cost the buyer a little more. I charge what ever I want,
but I don't way over charge, just enough to cover some
of my cost. The buyer did not choose to buy the insurance
I offered so I did not add that. But if he/she had of it would
have cost $2.20 as it was $100.00 what the post office charges
for $100. (Actually a little over $100 but I was only charging $2.20)
If I offer the insurance and one does not buy it, then it is not on
me if the item does not get to them, or does and is broke or smashed.
It would be their problem for not getting the insurance I offered.
I do my shipping at home and I do have confirmation #'s on all
packages free of charge with Priority.
I don't know where you live and why your shipping costs are so
different then mine, but I thought it was the same just about
everywhere in the US. And I do agree with you, shipping is very
costly.

There are three size Priority boxes you can order off of USPS for free,
they state that regardless of the weight as long as it fits in the box
it is the same price, not true.
2 of the boxes are $7.70 however in some cases the item fit in the box
yet the weight was heavy and I was charged way more then I charged the
buyer.
The smaller box cost $4.00.
I ship Priority regardless unless the item is too big then 2 day UPS.
I require Insurance regardless, I read several power seller eBay books
and every single one said to require insurance as it protects the
SELLER. I also require a signature. The USPS tracking number is a joke
at best. My old neighbor his entire family has made a career w/USPS and
I asked him about that. He said if the driver drops it in the trash he
can still mark it as delivered, and there have been several cases here
when the USPS driver delivered the mail to his home and marked the
tracking number as delivered, thus asking for someone to sign proves it
made it. Also in those books it brought out that one of the biggest
complaints buyers had was the packing, It COST bigtime to pack something
correctly. If you take the time to do it right then each item can run as
high as $5.00 to pack. eBay states in it's TOS that allowing for each of
the above is allowed and expected. My shipping according to eBay for
what I go through it well worth it, of course that is according to what
eBay told me today. I did have eBay review my shipping cost before I
posted them. And when my buyers get the item I always get thanks in my
e-mail for the packing.

As a buyer ( and seller) on Ebay, i ha ve a few Cardinal rules.

THe main one (as a buyer) is if i dont agree with the shipping, I do
NOT bid. If there is no shipping stated in the auction, I will
*sometimes* ask, but only if I am really interested. Sometimes i have
been pleasantly surprised and gotten a good deal! I do not try and get
the seller to lower the shipping price, or mess around like that, time
is too short for me to nit pick. if its too high for me, i dont
bid...I'm not going to try and "talk them down"

My husband, however, will bid even if the shipping is high ( high, not
exorbinant). Many times i have seen him pay $7-10 shipping for a dvd,
which makes me cringe, but whatever...lol

It took me 2 years to get him to check feedback. Of course, his way of
checking is getting ME to do it for him, but I much rather take a few
minutes nd do that, then deal with paypal claims and all that garbage.

As a seller, I try not to charge more than I would be willing to pay
to receive the same item. Obviously, this is not always " do-able",
but normally it is.

The small, square priority mail box is $4.05. adding delivery
confirmation is .50 or .60 cents more. If it is something I can not
replace, I automatically charge insurance ( 1.30)that is not optional,
if it is something I made and can make another one, I do not charge
insurance.

Flat Rate Priority box is $8.10, for all you can shove in it,
regardless of weight. There may be surcharges on those for Alaska, and
Hawaii, I'm not sure as I have never shipped there...

I believe that on Ebay, a buyer has 7 days to pay for the item, no
nmatter what your auction says. Anything under 7 days can not be
enforced. So even though on My auctions, I say payment must be
received in 3 days, I know I cant do anything until day 8.

As for your buyer....they should have read. Now, I would probably send
the item if they do send the payment, just to avoid the headache and
possible negative feedback, but I would also put them on your blocked
bidders list, so they can not bid on anything in the future.
