No, I do not get a gold security bar. The problem is only on this d$!&
Compaq Presario. I can get a file download dialog box to appear if I
right click on the download and then select Save Target As..., but on
any of my other computers the file download dialog box automatically
appears.

I have tried to match all the security settings from my other computers.

As I mentioned in another post on this particular computer when I go to
download it starts downloading before asking where I want to save it.
At least it appears to be downloading as indicated by the dial up status
window, and to the bottom left corner just above the task bar there is a
looks like a hard drive with a red arrow above it. When it is finished
the hard drive/red arrow changes to 'done'. I have no idea where it
saved the download and only a guess as to the name that a search has not
helped find.

Do you get the gold security bar at the top of the page when you try
to download? Right-click it and click "Download file" and it should
go to the dialog box. If it's a restricted site it will say
downloads not allowed.

That sounds like some kind of download manager is running. You'll
need to figure out what it is and either disable it or locate its
configuration so you can change find out where it's saving things and
change it.
